Children's/Youth Research

Based on many years' experience in interviewing children and teenagers, we believe the interview should be designed for the child/young person, not just adapted from adult interviews.

Our approach incorporates:

  • questionnaire vocabulary designed so it is fully comprehended by all age groups
  • interviewing strategies to avoid parental influence but encourage assistance where necessary
  • questionnaire length adapted for age of child to reflect attention span
  • use of stimulus material to aid response and reading support where necessary
  • techniques for dealing with sensitive issues eg. drugs, smoking
  • interviewers who enjoy interviewing children/young people and can swiftly build trust and rapport.
